Summer: getting your pool ready for the season

Nothing is more refreshing than a dip in your pool at the height of summer—unless your pool has turned into a breeding ground for algae, fungi, or other bacteria. It’s time to get your pool ready for the summer season, so you can enjoy safe swimming in clear, crystal-clean water.

1. Deep cleaning

It’s time to gather your equipment to remove unwanted debris—such as leaves, branches, twigs, and insects—that may have found their way into your aquatic haven. Use a special sponge and a suitable cleaning product to scrub the waterline (the surface), along with a pool net to remove larger debris.

2. Ensure the pool is in proper working order

Using a maintenance service to check that the system is properly calibrated according to standards can be essential. This ensures that the multiport valve and filtration components are in good working condition, allowing you to fully enjoy your pool without any issues.

It is therefore necessary to check the filter for clogging and carry out the required backwashing and rinsing operations.

3. Improve water quality

Check the water’s pH using a test strip. The ideal pH level is between 7.2 and 7.6. Then assess the chlorine level, which should be around 1 mg per litre to prevent the growth of bacteria. When both pH and chlorine levels are properly balanced, the appearance of algae is unlikely.

Remember: pool water that looks clean is not necessarily safe.

4. Poolside layout and ambiance

To turn your pool into a true relaxation space, a few decorative touches go a long way. Wood, for instance, adds a warm, comfortable, and welcoming feel. Why not place a few of our bean bags around the pool for a more laid-back vibe? You can also opt for decorative artificial rocks or pebbles that evoke a beach-inspired atmosphere.

Ultimately, pool comfort relies on good organization and regular upkeep. The goal is to act quickly and make a few simple corrective adjustments, helping you avoid major, time-consuming, and potentially frustrating remedial work later on.
